Jack Burk
OwnerBiography
Jack grew up on a farm/ranch in Monte Vista, CO. He attended Fort Lewis College the first year they offered a 4 year degree, where he met Patricia. He went on to earn his doctorate and spent most of his professional career teaching botany at University of California Fullerton. He and Patricia retired and moved back to Mancos full-time. It wasn’t far into retirement when Jack decided he needed some cows to stay entertained. Those cows formed the foundation for the herd we currently manage. He has also been active in the soil conservation world serving on the State Conservation Board and is an active board member for the Mancos Conservation District as well as Montezuma Land Conservancy. He was instrumental in getting most of the Mancos Valley’s irrigation into pipe, conserving an immense amount of water and increasing the valley-wide efficiency of what little water we have.
